This reminds me of when I bought my 68 truck. It had been sitting for over 5 years, and no fees paid. Before buying it I went down to the DMV and had them run the VIN. The VIN couldn't be found, so no back fees due.
I bought the truck, did some work on it, replaced cam and put a kit in the carb. The truck was running good so I went back to the DMV. I gave the pink slip to the clerk and they did all the calculations and said $750 please.
OUCH When I did the first check at the DMV it had reactivated record (mainframe computers do that)and I was tagged for all the late fees.
