#50522 09/26/2005 4:19 PM | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 1,904 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2001 Posts: 1,904 | More advice (that was given to me here) was to roll up some paper towel and put it into #1 spark plug hole making darn sure you don't push it all the way in. Then rotate the fly wheel. When you start to compress and approach TDC, the paper will fly out. In my case, it also made a whooping sound which was nice since I was under the truck at the time.
I've also heard there are whistles with 14 mm threads that you can use in #1 spark plug hole.
Finally, my buddy was finding TDC with a pencil when it broke off in the cylinder. That's not good.
