It won't hurt to dump in a quart or two in the converter, but the pump will fill it as soon as the engine starts. With a small cooler, you should be in the 11 quart range if the transmission was dry with a dry converter. Start with four and go from there. Be sure to let the fill tube drain a few minutes before checking. Joe
