Its pretty basic mechanics. You can take the snap ring out of the front & pull the pushrod. & thick washer. Pull the rear end like you described. Hone it out & put it back like it was. The rubber washer goes in the rear. Put the new check valve on the old spring. I think I mentioned before. There is a tiny hole inside the reservoir under a funnel shape. Poke a tag wire in to make sure it is clear. the rubber cup faces the rear.
