These trans mounts bolt to that crossmember.
I've gone and looked again at each of my trucks, and not one has this crossmember. But as I've pointed out to others on other questions, you can not assume a 50-year-old truck has not been modified.
Apparently that crossmember has been removed from every pre '54 1/2-ton I've owned.
Today I have a '52 GMC Sububan, and a '53 GMC 1/2-ton panel that do not have the crossmember.
My other pre-'54 trucks are all bigger than 1/2-ton and apparently didn't have it?
So here is the conclusion I'm going to stick to. Not one of the eight AD trucks sitting in my yard today has a transmission crossmemer. Not one. Beyond that I can't prove anything.
