I'm in the same spot, got my engine at the machine shop and am debate. My machinist told me that it wasn't necessary to balance the crank on a l-6, but that the pistons/connecting rods should be done. He said that in reciprocating engines, like a v-6/v-8, you've got to balance the crank. But the l-6 is inherently balanced. He went on to say he would spin my crank if I wanted him too but I would be wasting my money. This guy has been in the business 30 years, builds 8s for racing and has done hundreds of 6s.

Is he wrong?
