Thank you all for your quick responses. This seems to me to open up a whole new method to keep these trucks on the road. I have a 77 GMC 3/4 ton that had a 454 and auto. The truck drove very well on the highway and I have always assumed that it had 3.78's or maybe higher gears. I made the truck into a trailer when the engine gave out and it only had 90K miles on it when it was parked. I currently have the 16.5 x 16 wheels and tires on my 48 - 3/4 ton and they fit well on the back. I put the old safety wheels from my pickup on the trailer and it seemed to narrow the whole rear end up. Looks like I need to get the tape measure out and see what we have and what it would take to get it roadworthy. I have not been able to find a carrier to convert it to 4.10, so this looks like a better option. Thanks again guys. Keep the ideas comming.
Ralph
