Okay, I'll try again!
I've been messing around with different hose configurations, and still no dice.
I've purchased a "rebuilt" motor from one of the mainstay suppliers, though it's appearance leaves something to be desired. I'm not super confident in it. The tube from the top valve moves pretty loosely, and the plastic slider on top wiggles much more than my original. I hooked it up to a vacuum pump, though, and it did move steadily and swiftly. There is a constant vacuum hiss from the motor when the engine is running and the hoses are hooked up.
I did discover that if I hook vacuum to both of the fittings coming from the top of the motor, there is no movement. If I hook just one, there is some, even if I plug one hole.
The wiper arms move smoothly and freely by hand, and I've lubed the joints in the linkage, and I'm wetting the windshield.
The wipers only move half a sweep then stop. I have to park them by hand.
I'm getting 23" vac from the manifold, and that is hooked to the motor. Is that enough? I've been messing with tuning the engine, as well.
I can't figure our what to do with the fuel/vac pump hoses, still. I know which one sucks and which blows, but I don't know what goes where. I've tried running the manifold hose to the fuel pump, then the fuel pump vac to a "t" fitting to split to both motor fittings; I've tried running the manifold right to the motor, and swapped between the fittings on the fuel pump. The "blow" fitting gave some movement, and the vac fitting none.
Somebody must have a clue they can share! Anybody? Please...?
