The flat end of the coil goes up with the armored cable attached and wired to the ignition input. The pointy end goes down and the HT lead goes between the coil and the distributor. The LT wire from the distributor usually goes to a stud next to the HT lead on the coil, but I have seen it at the other end on some years. There should be a fairly large hole in the firewall to the right of center and the cable passes through a grommet in this hole.
