Here is something that I would like some history and education on…
(It’s a ’40 ½ ton, and I got it as a box of parts… disclaimer)
I have an ignition switch that has a cable looking casing around the hot wire, down to a chrome cover, that goes over the bottom end of the coil. I have three different types of coils but I would say that these two parts go together. The coil also has a stud and nut on the top end of the coil, where I would expect to see one (being a first series Camaro guy).
Questions:
1. Does this set up go to my ’40? I haven’t seen it in a lot of engine Pics.
2. What wire goes to the stud on the top, if any?
3. What hole in the firewall does the cable go thru?
4. Does the coil point down or up? I’ve seen both ways.
That’s it.

Thanks for the help.
