See page 409 in the Master Parts Catalog link that Tim supplied. The bushings in the 37-53 passenger cars did not last long behind a healthy 235 or 261. Our garage would always replace the earlier car transmission with a 54 when the bushings went bad, as most of the gears would be wiped out also.
