Evan makes a good point about the inside stuff for the oil pan. If the engine has lots of sludge in it then pulling the pan to clean the dipper trays makes lots of sense. But as mentioned make sure you get a shop manual and then locate the alignment tools to make sure everything is lined up. The troughs are the source of oil for the connecting rod journals.
