The knob I saw was just hollow with the jewel plugging the hole. It had a large female thread that the element screwed into. So there had to be a path for the glow from the element to show thru. All of the elements that I’ve seen were solid and had the knob screwed into a tapped hole. Sure like to see one that was unscrewed from its element.
