The lines should have an 1/8" NPT fitting on one end, and a flare fitting on the other. The reason is so that the line can be hooked up without having to twist the hose at least on one end. Your engine should have had the adapter fittings (one for each line) either on the block (that's where I've usually seen them) or on the filter housing itself. If you don't have it, then a trip to flaps is in order. Check out their brake line adapter fittings. Should be a 1/4" inverted flare x 1/8" NPT male fitting.
