I've been trying to determine if the pistons from my '49 Chevy with 216 engine are marked in any way to indicate orientation. I understand that the connecting rod casting numbers face the front of the engine and that the oil dippers are installed with open faces towards the cam shaft. After conditioning the cylinders and installing new piston rings it's time to install the new rod/piston assemblies. I'm just not 100% sure about the original pistons orientation. I suspect that this old engine does not have a particular piston orientation but need to be sure. Apart from the 0.030" oversize stamping on the piston head I do not see any orientation markings.
