I recently found out that a motor I acquired is a 261. It was a good running motor when it was removed a couple years ago and I put fresh oil in the crankcase and marvel oil in the cylinders.
I really want to get this motor in my truck, but the L-6 is an entirely different animal to me. I was thinking about just replacing the gaskets and seals in it and giving it a fresh coat of paint. I don't have the $$$ for a shop rebuild, but have just acquired some machine tools to check all the tolerances, etc. What do you all think.
I will probably want to pick your brains with more questions about this one later. Thanks...Tom.
