For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 211 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 211 | I believe i have 2 problems with my monojet carb (I'll post a pic at somepoint) and i don't know how to fix them. Since i've started driving it in June, about 3/5's of the time i shut it off, it sputters and runs on for a bit. When my grandpa (the original owner of my truck) came down to visit the other day, he asked me to pop the hood and start it up. I never said anything about the sputtering but he thought something was up with the carb. He said i was idling a little high but that its easy to fix. Trouble is he failed to tell me how to fix it??!! Could this also be a cause for my sputtering? The second "problem" is that recently everywhere i go it smells like freakin half burnt gasoline!!! A few months ago i cut the tailpipe off right to the end of the cab and threw on a glasspack, which ends about 1/3 of the way down the bed. Its just recently began smelling like this and one of my engine savvy buddies said i might be running a little rich.He also said that working on carburettors suck and that even restorers and piddlers DREAD messing with them. The only thing i know about a carburettor is what it does. HELP ME!!! | | |
