Does your new drill come with lithium batts ?..if not the life expectancy for the Dewalts isnt that great either..I used mine as stated in there manual discharging and rechargin them ...an after a yr and a half they both good for bought 6 holes before they poop out.
At work they got Milwakee lithium an they seem to be holding up well so far.
