I was feeling pretty abitious tonight. The oil pan that came with my 261 was crushed so I dug out a pan off an old 235 I had sitting around. The 261 has an oil pickup tube similar to a small block, so the baffles in the 235 pan would not clear. No problem, I reconstructed the baffles and brazed them inside the pan. I set the pan on the engine when I noticed the bolts on the left side of the block didn't line up with the holes in the pan. OOOPS!!!
Now, the $20 question--my 261 is a 58-61 according to the casting number. The 235 I got the pan from I think was a 54 or 55. Would a pan from a later 235 fit? The 261 has a jog in the block where the 235 pan is straight down both sides. I sure wish I had not scrapped the original pan from the 261 now
