The 53-54 engines had the old 216-style fan blade on a 4" pulley and 7/16" belt. The blades will be "staggered" or not evenly spaced around the hub. The 55-62 engines used a fan with evenly spaced and wider blades on the 7" pulley.
They won't interchange because the fan RPM range was different, pulley sizes were different, and the fan bolt pattern (i think) was also different. Whatever blade bolts to the pump pulley and clears everything should work.
