I have to agree with GMC on the tuning side of this. I found my 55.2 with a Rochester model B to be jetted very rich. I have an air/fuel ratio meter I use for race car tuning primarily, it uses a wide band oxygen sensor and will measure ratios outside of stochiometric. Anyway, modern engines attempt to run as close as possible to 14.7:1 air/fuel ratio. My truck with the stock jet was at 11.1:1, very rich. No choke was needed to start it cold in 50 degree weather. I played with it for a while, unable to find a replacement jet and filled mine with solder and drilled it out smaller. I think I finally ended up at .040 bore size to get the ratio right. Driveability improved, throttle response was better and mileage increased.Food for thought.
