Steve,
The adjustable timing light is just a timing light with a calibrated dial. Hooks up the same and works the same.
Make sure the dial is set at zero.
Shine it at the pointer hole, now turn the dial and watch the BB move to where you want it. Then read the dial, it will tell you the number of degrees.
