The switch is a switch the contacts just give a connection fron the power into the switch to the wire going to the starter. If you connect the two wires you will bypass the switch and send the voltage from the power in to the power to the starter. Brush them together just enough to see if the starter jumps. Is a 54 starter a foot switch type?
