My comment about Filling Station and Jim Carter paints was only made because it was posted (above, by you) that those sources are "acceptable"; however, my bet/guess is that they are distinctly different shades of gray (darker gray for Filling Station and lighter gray for Jim Carter). That is why I asked if anyone had samples from both paints. I am not arguing; I am just asking.
The 1946 engine color that Bryan asked about is the darker gray ("blue gray" in a
in a 1996 article written by a VCCA member.) From what people have reported, Filling Station has a good match for Bryan's '46 engine, but should that darker blue-gray be used through 1962?
"PPG brand"?? Did someone have an original Ditzler code? If so, it would be nice to know the code (if it is not a secret).

Original Ditzler and Dupont codes are available for most interior and exterior colors but seemingly not for engine colors. It is possible for PPG to provide modern codes for just about any original Ditzler color code. I can understand why a parts/paint vendor might not want to give out an original code but I would hope that a club or individual would be willing to post a code.
By the way, the VCCA imprimatur is not needed to know exterior/interior Ditzler/Dupont/PPG paint codes because these are readily available (at least for Advance-Design years).
