The Filling Station paint is mixed from the PPG brand and not from whatever was stated earlier by someone.
I and many other members of the VCCA have had original cars/trucks with very low mileage and have torn down more than 30 engines myself since 1950's from the years 1932 to 1941 and have always found the dark gray paint to be a close match to the Filling Station paint color.
