Clear as mud eh Jason? Interesting to note two long time Dave’s running Langdon’s setup suggesting completely opposite directions. For sourcing a quality pair of rebuilt carbs in Canada I suggest
Autoline. The pair of Rochester B’s I got thru a FLAPS ran great out of the box and were $90.00 each w/ $50.00 core. All the one barrel carburetors that directly bolt on are designed to be vertically actuated. Pressure should be from directly underneath where the rod attaches and at idle it should have a very small window where it will “float” or exert no pressure on the carb so that it is resting against the idle stop. This all becomes polluted with a floating linkage that firmly clamps the carbs together and exerts pressures against the throttle shafts that are not designed to be there not to mention flexing. Anyone who has an intake with a pivot rod does not have those issues and IMO most dual carb complaints are linkage related and not caused by the carbs themselves. If I ever wanted something other than Rochesters it sounds like Strombergs are the ultimate hot rod carb.
