Thanks, Grigg. GVW is indeed the maximum vehicle weight - truck and load combined. Net weight however is the vehicle only - sans load - including only fluids. Why the MVD requires such is known only to them.
I like your system of 'pay for the load'. Sadly, it's an 'all or nothin' at all' approach up here. As for antique plates, well, they are so restrictive as to be useless. And nothing pleases the Mounties more than tagging such an easy catch as a lumbering Big Bolt.
My last resort is to drive 40 miles and purchase a day tag ($45), then driving to the nearest weigh scale (120 miles), and playing hop-scotch with the operator. Did I mention gas prices? And adding insult to injury, this Province is going to slap on another 10 cents a gallon as of July. Carbon Tax don't you know. We'll be hitting the six-dollar mark by summer, I'm certain. Anyway, I shall continue to search for the Net weight, but I do find precious little information on this particular configuration.
