Having had my heart explode upon hearing licence plate fees ($1840), I'm re-examining vehicle Net and Gross weights. My 1967 Tilt cab shows a GVW of 16000lbs on the pillar tag. Problems begin with the previous registrations that, owing to incorrect translation from Imperial to Metric, show 9060kg (roughly 20000lbs) which places me squarely in the 'Commercial' bracket. (or, is that 'racket'?) I've showed the functionaries the actual GVW tag but now they demand to know the vehicle's Net Weight. And that I cannot find. The Tilt has a wheelbase of 140in. and I believe it to be a Model 40, or 50. (Can't determine that either). Even with such paucity of information, is anyone able to assist in this search for correct Net Weight? Given that gas now pumps for $1.269L ($5.76gal.), the added cost of rapacious insurance appears to see the truck as 'driveway decoration' rather than useful vehicle. Rates for an ordinary truck approximate $400. Can you see why my panicked search?
