Yes, it makes sense and would work,

But to reduce bump steer you want the pitman arm to be near one or the other spring hangers.
Then the drag link swings approximately the same arc as the axle and 1/2 the spring do when going over a bump, and the steering stays reasonably constant and does not send you off in an unplanned direction.
