I agree with tclederman. I think a Holley-Weber or Carter-Weber will save you a lot of work money and trouble. I've looked at replacing my 235 with a 292, and the offset motor mount scares me a little. A V-8 is going to make things pretty tight under the hood, and the tweaks won't be free. Motor mounts for a V-8 are going to run at least $50 and I've heard that someone has a complete ??-Weber kit for less than $100, with linkage and manifold water heater.
