Steve Ley -- Sorry to be such a chowder brain, but I'm not sure I understand your comment on the 5-lug versus 10-lug ratings:

Front axles on AD trucks came either as 5-lug, 5,000 lb axles or 10-lug, 7,000 lb axles? I don't think I've ever seen a 10-lug front axle on an AD truck (not disputing you, just a comment that a 10-lug front axle must be a rarity).

Rear axles were 10 lugs, but could range in rated weight from 7,000 to 17,000 lbs?

Is that what you meant? I want to be sure I get it right so that the article is accurate and clear on that part.
