Was the LAS number stamped on the flat spot next to the distributor? Could the LASI.... be LAS1....? I have a 235 with an LAQ number stamped there. (L hints '53) I think Ken and BigGreen48 have LAQ stamped engines. I finally found my casting number (3701481) under a ridge in front of the fuel pump. Never would have found it while the engine was in the truck.
