I'm at the very first stages of trying to turn my 1946 ck pickup into a daily driver. I'm going to end up going with a new engine, because the old inline has had the heads removed for several years, out in the weather, and the rust is rampant in the cylinders. However, in an attempt to learn more about my truck, I tried to identify the block casting number. The number engraved next to the distributor hole on the block is "LASI00493". I have already checked at inliners.org, and found similar letter pre-fixes, but not a match. Am I looking at the wrong number, or do I just have an oddity or rarity? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks! Raymond Fowler
