Funny you should ask. Did this exact engine 307/1970 block probably about 1980. This is what was done. Moroso 6 quart oil pan, z-28 oil pump with Moroso pick-up. Heads were mildly ported, exhaust ports matched with long tube headers. Stainless valves. Bored .030 over, new flattop pistons, don't remember brand., rods were reconditioned, new pins, new cam bearings. Clevitte 77 rods and mains. For the cam I went to Chevy and put in what was called a 327-350 hyd GM cam and new lifters. Intake was a cast iron Corvette 4 barrel with a 600 vac secondary spreadbore Holley, Primary's were jetted down to .059. Left the point dist and had it recurved. And even then with 3:73 out
back it got 21 mpg on the road. Nice engine. I think I spent about $1000.00 shopping for parts and machining. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Have fun with your project.
