yep , pull the door panel an have a look , the latch mechanism might have went south an is NOT COMING back ..a replacement will be in order.
If so ..after you get the panel off ..a screwdriver should be the ticket to flip the latch an open the door ..so you can proceede to remove the broken latch mechanism.
