I think what you are going to run into is that the brackets are made of 1 3/4" wide material and, yes, it is made of 1/4" thick material. You may have to look around to find 1 3/4" material. I never could find any and finally had to use 2" wide material. The other problem I had was bending it without heating it so I could maintain a smooth, gradual bend, instead of a sharp bend. I finally went to an iron shop that made gates, window grates and other ornamental iron for homes and buildings. They made them for me, but it wasn't cheap.
At the time I couldn't find any, anywhere. I later traced and photographed mine and gave the information to Ron Wade, owner of Chev's of the 40's, and what you see in his catalog now are reproductions of my 37 bumper brackets.
