I just installed a new clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing and rebuilt 3-speed transmission in my 49 chevy 1/2 ton. Assembly went OK and I looked at posts on this site so I think I put the clutch disk in correctly. However, after assembly using the previous clutch adjustment settings I could push the clutch all the way to the floor and not get any resistance. I moved the adjustment almost all the way to the end of the bolt and I got resistance after clutch peddle is pushed in about 1". But, the clutch doesn't appear to release as I can't shift without grinding the gears. The resistance I feel is much lighter than it was with the old clutch. Any suggestions as to what I might have done wrong?
