Timing tab is not on crank pulley. 235 timing marks are built into bellhousing and flywheel. There is a window in the bellhousing above starter with a little steel pointer in the center. There is a steel 'ball' about the size of a BB set into the flywheel. The ball goes around and around on flywheel. The ball and pointer line up when the #1/#6 crank throws are at TDC. Shoot window with timing gun, and ball will line up with pointer if engine fires right at TDC. Easier with a dial-back timing light.
