I have a 72 c10 with a 12 bolt diff.,at least that's how many bolts are on the rear pan. How does this differential compare to the Ford's 9 inch. It seems that alot of gear heads favour the 9 inch and make that conversion, what do you think.

I was given a 1990 c1500 silverado that I intend to use the drive train for the project I'm working on, is the track width wider than the 72 or the same,I don't feel like crawling under the truck to measure as the truck is under a heavy blanket of snow at the moment and I'm taking the lazy route.lol :/
