Tim, back in the 60's my brothers in-law's would order a tractor trailer load at one time. They came from "somewhere up in the mountains". Judging from the way some of the fence post were split I would think you could find at least a few trees big enough to cut some bed boards??
I agee with the hardness. Growing up we heated and mom cooked with wood so I know all about that stuff. Around here the hardest thing I cut with the chainsaw was Hickory. Back years ago,high school and pre-military, I cut timber for the local Bowater plant. Hardwood and pine. Man, now thats work! Right!!
I'm actually trying to decide what i'm going to use in the panel but that is a "ways" off right now.
