I had kind of resigned myself to taking the fender off. I was hoping I wouldn't have too, but that's what it looks like. I think I will tack weld the square nut on the back once I can get to it. I think it probably needs the nut and bolt in there because it supports the hinge/door. I guess if I take the fender off, I can really clean it up and paint both sides of it.
