49 Chevy 3100. It has been sitting for 20+ years. So far I flushed with diesel and dropped/cleaned the pan. LOTS of sludge in the bottom.
I squirted about 1 quart of oil in the spark plug holes and let it soak in. I plan on spinning the oil pump with diesel to flush the oil passages. Then I am going to drain it, and fill with oil, then prime.
What is the best way to prime the oil pump. I used a drill and old screwdriver to prime my Scout's engine once. Can I do the same on the Chevy? How large of head do I need?
ANy other tips for me prior to start up?
This is a great site, and I will have LOTS of questions to come I am sure.
