I have a 57 Chevy with a 3spd OD transmission. Today when starting out I heard a load pop and then the trans. shifted normally. The next time I stopped and then started again, there were no forward gears, only reverse. After putting it in reverse briefly, the forward gears worked normally and I traveled for several miles. When downshifting to 2nd around a corner, I again lost the forward gears and had to be towed home. Can anyone give me an idea of what this problem may be before I tear into the transmission? I have a spare 3spd for parts. Also,if anyone could recommend a vendor for repair parts I would appreciate it. Thanks for all suggestions.
