Hesitation on acceleration is *usually* a lean condition. If it's about the same whether hot or cold, I'd check the accel pump first, as another 'Bolter suggested.
Second, look for vacuum leaks. Actually, maybe do that first. 8-) Got a Mityvac or similar? Check every hose and
line. Then do the spray-while-running (w/ carb cleaner), listen for RPM changes.
Third, carefully dismantle and clean the carb. Check it for airleaks around the butterfly bores.
