http://www.carnut.com/specs/rear.html http://www.novaresource.org/axle.htm I spent the afternoon putting a 10 bolt out of a 1979 Nova on my '52 today, although I didn't get it completely finished. The rear end measures 60.25" from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface AND (big drum roll) the spring perches appear to be in the right places! This is with the stock springs swapped end to end to put the locating pins in the right place. This is a five lug rear, though, so if you're looking to keep all your wheel bolt patterns the same this rear wouldn't be a good choice.
While I have it bolted in right now I haven't put the bed back on to see how everthing looks and I haven't figured out what to do for lower shock mounts.
Is there any way to make a "sticky" post on converting your truck to an open rear? It seems to be a really common question and I think we all could put together a lot of good information.
