Thanks for the quick answers. Roofing paper for anti-squeak sounds just right.
My truck has only 28,000 mi on it, (23,000 when I got it) and its very original. Even the light bulbs are still the ones the factory installed. The old sending unit without fuel line looks awfully original, still held in with little clutch head screws. I'll try and post a photo.
