Doesn't sound like a problem to me, assuming the trans was in neutral while this was happening. The gear oil in the trans is stiff enough, especially when cold, to transfer a little motion from gear to gear due to shear action between the gears. Sort of like a torque converter.
The shear action is not efficient enough to do much work; you can stop the wheel or brake drum easily by hand, I'd imagine.
