One place that wasn't mentioned is under the doors themselves. Look under the door where the weather strip is. Very often they are rusted down there. But still, I don't think $1500 is too out of line. If there is deluxe chrome around the windshield and cab, that is a plus. If there is an original style bumper on the rear, that is a plus. A big back window is a plus to most people. If the front hood emblem has a "V" on it, that is a plus (especially with the original 283 engine). If there is chrome trim on the fleeside box, pay cash now and get it loaded. Don't look back. That chrome is worth $600-$1000 if in good shape and complete.
