ok , been a while since i had any up date on my progress, between all the rain and a nice 8 day vacation on the beach I havent had much time. I found a 305 ( go ahead and laugh its ok) i found a good running 305 with a 700r4 tranny really cheap on craigslist. i went to look at it , my trusty block/head casting list in hand. turns out its a late model roller motor with the 58cc chambered HO heads on it. probably running about 9.6:1 compression. once I stick a big ugly cam and some 1.6 rockers in it and change out the stock intake for my FREE edelbrock aluminum intake with 650 4 barrell (gotta love friends that have too much stuff laying around) and a few MSD goodies I should be pushing close to 340hp and sounding very good at the same time. and hopefully i will only have about $400 into the whole thing. I know there are the na sayers out there cringing at the thought of using a 305. The way i see it , this 305 will get me down the street, will do a big ole burn out if i want it too, and is going to sound like a top fuel dragster scaring all those crate motor guys. so in the end it will make me giggle inside knowing what it is and they will just have to wonder.
does anyone happen to know what headers will fit in there the best? I would love a set of long tubes just for the look, but if huggers or shorties are all that will fit guess ill have to take em.
