Brendan,
I just want to get this straight in my mind..the major automotive manufacturers requested that the major oil manufacturers take the anti-wear additives out of the oil so it wouldn't foul the catalytic converters. I sure would hate to spring for a new catalytic converter...they must be much more expensive than a new engine...right! I think an important part of this puzzle has been overlooked or misunderstood.
